What to Bring
H.I.C. Tours- Akwe River Fishing Adventures

Fishing Wear | Rain Wear | Miscellaneous | Food | Optional | Provided
Fishing Gear for Kings and Silvers

Pack as lightly as possible, but you will need at least a large duffel bag and an ice chest for each adult.

FISHING WEAR (return to top)
- 1 pair of waders
- 1 pair of wader boots (if not attached to waders)
- 1 wader-type short rain coat with hood
- 2 pairs fleece wader liners, or sweat pants, or thermal underwear
- 2 fleece sweatshirts (1 to wear, 1 to hang up and dry out)

RAIN WEAR (return to top)
- 1 pair waterproof boots or shoes (waders & wader boots not allowed in cabins)
- 1 set of light outer rain gear (waterproof pants and shell jacket, like Frogg Toggs brand)

MISCELLANEOUS (return to top)
- Underwear, wool socks, undershirts, jeans, as needed for trip duration
- Toiletries (toothbrush, ear plugs for snoring, etc.) and medications
- Hat & sunglasses (Polarized)
- Bug spray (99% DEET)
- Sunscreen (waterproof)
- Water bottle
- Towel
- Camera in waterproof bag
- iPod, cards, etc.
- Large ice chest with wheels (see Food suggestion below)

FOOD (return to top)
- Bring food for breakfast, snacks, lunch on the river, and dinner—plan the meals with your group. Plan to eat fish for some meals. An extra portion of each meal is greatly appreciated by the 2 guides!
- Guests do their own cooking.
- Bring charcoal briquettes if you plan to barbecue (Alsek Air can have these waiting for you- email or call ahead)
- Bring beer, wine, liquor, & beverages (Alsek Air can also have this waiting for you- email or call ahead)

Suggestion: freeze all of your food before the trip and pack it all in a large ice chest. Loose “wet” ice is not allowed on Alaska Airlines, but gel ice (sealed) or frozen containers are fine. Plan to eat all the food you bring, because you will pack your ice chest full of frozen, ziplock-bagged fish on your return trip! See image below:

- Sleeping bag (or a bed sheet as a liner for ours) and/or pillow

- Outhouse
- Freezer (for your fish only, not your food)
- General condiments (ketchup, salt, pepper, mustard, etc.)

- Small Tupperware or lure box to put 10-12 lures and swivels in your Waders / Pocket
- The main fly that we use is the lime green with zonker green tail, any variation of that one will work. The Lime green one and the blue and green were the main flies for many years and we still use them. The one with the eyes is easier to tie and sinks better. Russian river blue, and green flies also work and can be purchased just about anywhere.
- Steelhead Rod 8-17 lb.
